- Asiatic Lion area totally closed off due to "breeding season", I overheard a member of staff telling other visitors that the female gave birth to cubs about 10 months ago, but that she ate them
In addition to the zoo, if time permits whilst in Edinburgh, I’d recommend the zoology galleries of the National Museum of Scotland in Chambers Street.
Exhibits include the quagga that died in London Zoo in 1872, one of the London Zoo thylacines, a Javan rhinoceros….
