I'm impressed, you have a farm and still find time to visit lots of zoos -I thought running a farm was pretty much a 24/7 activity?:)

I have a farm but it consists of 2 lambs, 6 horses and a few ducks.
It’s not a working farm! I just wanted somewhere nice with spaces for the horses.
What I have isn’t time consuming and the ducks aren’t mine. They’ve just found my pond and taken it as their home lol, they are lucky I don’t like Duck lol
 
Hi guys. Went to Edinburgh on Monday for the first time used our Chester membership to get in. Went specifically to see Pandas and Koalas mainly for my wife who has never seen a Koala before. Penguin Rock was amazing great to see three species in one. does anyone know what is to become of the rather old looking exhibits on the hill up by the Wildcat and Tigers. Just about recovered now from the hills :)

I am really unsure what their plans are for this area. It’s been this way for as long as I’ve been going there.

My calves were aching the next day from all the climbing, I can’t believe how unfit I’ve become!

Is not with these primates the social structure and hierarchy a critical must (like with lion-tailed macaques) to stimulate breeding.

Visited today, main points worth mentioning are:

  • Buff-cheeked Gibbons are signed as being in the Monkey House (in the enclosure most recently home to the Drills before they were moved to the opposite side of the house) although all of the Gibbons were still in the Gibbon enclosure. I can only assume this means that one/some/all of the Gibbons will be moving in the near future.
  • Green Mantella are signed (I didn't see any) in Wee Beasties, sharing the enclosure with the Blue Poison Dart Frogs.
  • Indian Rhino Bertus is still in the zoo.
  • There are at least 5 four to five month old Gelada Baboons and another was born this morning.
  • The Binturong area was closed due to "breeding season".
  • The Flamingo's were all locked inside, I'm not sure why, no signs up to explain.
  • The indoor Panda area was open to visitors again.
  • Today was the last day of the "Giant Lanterns of China".

I’ll be interested to see what happens regarding this - the gibbons are a highlight for me.
 
Edinburgh has partially re-opened today after the severe weather. Top half of the zoo is closed and as such there is a 50% discount on entry price today.
 
All that work for nothing. If the 'enhancements' work out and they manage to produce a cub then great but I say it is unlikely. The pandas need to go if Edinburgh wants to become one of the UK's best again. However I still think at least somewhere in the UK should exhibit them... London, we dream?
 
But without the pandas, what would they have left? They’ve sent so much of their collection elsewhere over recent years. I guess they could always exhibit more meerkats. Wouldn’t this be a great time to enhance some other enclosures, too?
