If it means they'll keep doing maps, as less and less zoos are doing so now, the £1 charge doesn't bother me. As others have said, it's a revenue stream and there are plenty of alternatives for those that don't want to pay for one. Often, it means the maps are far better quality too. Marwell similarly charge £1 for a map and its on great quality paper.

Banham charge a pound and Africa Alive 50p. Good to have for those who wish to use or as a souvenir at those zoos who don’t have a guide book. There are plenty of other options for those who don’t want to pay the extra charge. I prefer to use one as I don’t want to be on my phone when out and about at a zoo / an attraction.

I don't believe that it's been noted in the thread that the single Baer's Pochard (moved from the flamingo aviary) and Socorro Doves (about time these were back on show!) are now in an aviary together that used to hold lemurs just opposite the old saki walkthrough - will upload pictures of this exhibit soon

Also regarding the walkthrough, apparently the building part of it is becoming a quiet zone and baby feeding area

I believe I already mentioned these things in appst, and I uploaded media of the new enclosure.

Does the zoo have caracaras? Zootierliste says that it does, and I have seen a picture of one in an article by the zoo, but there doesn't seem to be anymore information about them. And are there any species or enclosures which are easily missed?

There are a few in the aviaries you can just about see from far away when you stand by the display area's entrance point, last time I visited it was black kites, turkey vultures, and a third one that I can't remember off the top of my head.

0.1 Visayan spotted deer fawn was recently born to mum Lyra and dad Pablo, she has been named Ulan.

Visited yesterday:
- ‘Spotted’ the Visayan deer fawn close to mum and adorable.
- Binturong no where to be seen. The outside viewing windows were barriered off and there was no sign of it inside, although there was leftover food about.
- Good views of the new sloth bear, however, it was sad to see him pacing quite heavily along a fence line. Was quite concerned to see the ground where he was pacing was already very worn, especially as he’s only been there a couple of months.
- 3 koalas in the first room, enclosures in the next corridor all had shutters down (so just the first enclosure onshow).

- Binturong no where to be seen. The outside viewing windows were barriered off and there was no sign of it inside, although there was leftover food about.

On my visit a week and a bit ago I also had no luck finding him until later in the day where I discovered where he likes to lay. If you go to the left hand side indoor viewing window and look up right above it, he likes to squash himself between the frame and roof

Stupidly, I had pair in my head, rather than two.

Was speaking to a member of staff near the bears on my visit and she said it'll only be two males for a short period, and within a year or two they plan to transfer one out and receive a female to hopefully breed them!
