Just wondering what you guys' impressions were of the staff at the zoo, in particular the keepers. I know some staff at some attractions can be a bit stuffy and quite obviously p*ed off with numerous questions, but i have never come across this at the zoo.
I have always found the keepers friendly approachable and always willıng to talk to you about the anımals they look after. You can see and hear theır passıon for all the anımals ın the zoo and the park
Have to agree with the above comments. All of the keepers are really passionate about the animals in their care, and all of the other animals in the zoo. In fact everyone at the zoo has a great deal of pride about the park and the animals and the fact that the Centenary Talks programme are all keeper talks (apart from a few gardens talks) shows how everyone at the zoo are totally passionate about the place and are more than willing to talk about what they do. Odten some of the people who are most prone to let news slip are management up because they are so passionate about what's happening they forget! It really does seem to be a zoo where the staff just want to keep improving!
I'd like to add that Edinburgh Zoo is a very good example of the zoo community in general. I found on my travels that generally speaking zoo staff love talking about their zoo and will always recommend other parts of the zoo as well. For anyone within travelling distance Edinburgh is a great introduction to zoos as all the staff are nore than willing to encourage that passion in the park and the work of zoos in general.
