Elephant Sabi

Female elephant Sabi was transferred to the Safaripark this July. Does anyone know how she is doing there?

Sabi lived at Zoo Vienna for many years. From 2006 to July 20, 2009 she was with her son Abu at Zoo Halle in Germany. She is the mother of the first elephant born after an AI in Europe, but she also got "famous" when her 4 years old son Abu killed his keeper at Zoo Vienna in February 2005. Abu is still staying at Zoo Halle.

One female went to Warschau. In April the safaripark sended Erna away. And this one is the replacement? :D
 
They are eager for a breeding herde. They hope Sabi will not refuse Calimero :D
 
What is the situation regarding breeding Calimero . I think he fathered a calf ( which did not survive ) soon after arriving , but nothing since . He is an impressive bull .

That's correct. He concieved Carla, but the pregnancy stopped -lets say- halfway. All hopes are for Dzomba and Saby now.

By the way: yesterday evening we lost Olga. She was attacked by another (or more) and the vet had to put her to sleep.

Really bad news, I'm so sorry for her and the whole staff.

Is Sabi still seperated from the other cows or are all female elephants staying together in a group? Was Sabi involved in that attack on Olga?

Any news on how Sabi is doing now? Is she still separated from the other cows?
 
Any news on Sabi? How is she doing? Did she and Calimero mate? Is she or one of the other cows pregnant?
