On the twycross website in the permanent work section there is a place for a new elephant keeper, but it also says that there are plans in the very near future to AI one of the females, probably Tara. :):D

Would be much better sending her to a zoo with a breeding bull! Plus the fact that a high percentage of elephant calf’s conceived thru A.I. are male and they don't have the facilities for one.
 
I guess AI is easier than moving her around though, and probably cheaper.

Playing devil advocate but is doing the cheapest option mean the best outcome? Esp. when it comes to animal welfare?

They did this with the two older girls and they bred with Chang (Chesters previous bull). The only other place would be Whipsnade.

OK and what about the bull at Woburn? maybe that could be another option?
 
I understand that twelve year old elephant Tara is now pregnant by means of A.I., baby due Easter 2012 father Rajah from Woburn.
 
so the baby will be related to little genesh it would be good to see more young elephant there for them all to grow up to gether and also must be good for the adults as well
