A four years old african elephant bull has attacked a keeper at Dresden Zoo. The accident happend last saturday, but the zoos gave it to the news today, to protect the keepers. It happens as the keepers tried to get in the elphants into the barn, Dresden is working in direct contact to the elephants, also to the young bull. He attacked the 43 years old woman and hurts her, ( the zoo isn't telling what the bull has done to her )the other keeper came after her to help, but it seems, the bull throwed both into the water pool. Vistors helped them out of the water on the visitors side.
The woman was brought to the hospital immediatly, fortunately, she is not in danger of life.
The zoo has started to work now in protected contact with Thabo-Umsai, the bull, born in february 2006 by artificial insemination. In may or June, he will leave the zoo and will come to Pittsburgh Zoo.
My best Wishes to the keeper, I hope, she will be healthy again as soon as possible.
