Tess is Tupelo's mother, so I doubt she is pregnant two months from giving birth.

EDIT: Also, I was checking the St. Louis Zoo Elephant Encyclopedia entry and it says that Sri has had a stillborn fetus in her utero since 2005. Is that correct? and if correct can that be fatal for Sri?

San Diego's been busy this year . . .

And really? Only one other asian elephant born this year outside of Houston? Spectacular for my home zoo then, I only wish they got their new yard this year instead of May 2011, where it's already a bit cramped for 6 elephants (3 cows, juvenile male, 2 babies). Bull male in separate, smaller yard.

Not to be a buzz killer, but I highly doubt those elephant caves will live much past the age of 2 given Houston Zoo's track record with baby elephants and EEHV

No, I totally agree. It will be a shock and amazing surprise if they do survive, and if they do pass, I hope Houston has their breeding license removed, indefinitely. Or at least until a herpes free herd is brought into the zoo.

I dont know, because EEHV1 also is at the St. Louis zoo! Jade and Maliha were both infected, and both survived! Hopefully Houston has the same outcome!
