Probably best to follow the discussion topic attached to the photo

I've already posted the source of 2 of the elephants in that topic

From what i´ve heard Valencia was planning to import some young animals from africa. Apperently they are already there :) I believe 6 animals in the ages 4 to 10 years old were to be imported from a refugecentre near the krugerpark. They were born at the centre, but due to the high numbers of elephants in the park these could not be released into the park.
(this is just a rumour i heard, so i could be wrong offcourse..)

I´ve heard something similar: the elephant's herd from Bioparc be composed of 2 young males (Jambo & Kito) and 4 females, (3 adults, and 1 young) but 3 adult females 2 young males and 2(or 3) young females it's better., Ithink...

@ Keeper: there is just one young male elephant in Bioparc, Jambo. It was planned to move hhis half-brother Kito too but that never happened. Now that they have all these young females, I very much doubt that they have any interest in taking Kito.

According Colchester web site this "goal" (send Jambo & Kito to Bioparc) are recommended by the EEP for African elephants. But I don´t now any more...

It makes me very sad to read this, after having read the following on Colchester´s web page:

"For Jambo particularly, it was extremely important to Colchester Zoo that the youngsters could stay together for the time being as Kito and Jambo have formed an incredibly strong bond so the news is very welcome."

elephant.se says that Bioparc has got 1,2 elephants. Jambo, 5 years from Colchester and the females Betty and Greta (both 26 years) from Moscow. They arrived in 2007, Jambo in 2008

Bioparc has another adult female(i don´t know the name) from "Circo Mundial" (World Circus) i heard...the data from "Elephant.se" in this particular case are not correctly updated.

Yes, suddenly this doesn't seem to be important anymore. I see no reason why Kito couldn't go as well as the two young bulls would be great companions for each other. Now Kito has no companions of his own age in the Colchester group and Jambo has none in the Valencia group. Is Kito's move cancelled, or just delayed?.

Bioparc receives six young female elephant, (from namibia´s private ranch) and her herd grows up to ten individuals
I only find the new in Spanish...

The bioparc new females are between 4 and 6 years old.Confirmed today in a regional TV.

Were these females orphans then?

So the young male Jambo does have companions the same age.. I hope Kito also from Colchester can still join this group. (It is a pity there are not one or two adult females which the younger ones can learn from though.)

Pertinax, there are actually THREE adult females (age 25-30) in the Bioparc group, Betty and Greta from Moscow and Bully, an ex-circus elephant.

I very much doubt that Kito will join them now that the 6 young females have arrived - I have not seen the barn in person, but from what I`ve heard there it must be pretty cramped now with so many elephants. Actually, I think the barn is too small for 10 adult elephants, and I am pretty sure that some of them will leave in some years.
