Dierenpark Emmen (Closed) Emmen Zoo news

awesome photos! and thanks for the news about pregnancies. Perhaps one of those could be a girl!

Thank you for the new photo of Radza and his new son,oh boy what a Stunning bull Radza is I wish we had one of his sons here in oz, cheers

Taronga zoo's old bull Heman had one tusk when he died, but beforehand he had two massive straight tusks. I not sure how big he was probably around average for a bull. Shame he didn't have any kids though unlike radza!

Here's a photo of Myo Set Kaung, first son of Radza, born August 7, 2005. Notice his tusks which are, as I told before, already were broken off.

he already looks very bold like, the temporal gland is protruding out by quite a lot as well.

A californian sealion has been born last saturday. The newborn's gender is not yet known. It's mother is Kim, and it's father Mossy.

I don't know if she is still active with the sealions, I only know about two women working with the sealions, and one of them is for me a bigger attraction than the sealions ;) But that's not lilliane.

Emmen is always worth a visit, with or without female caretakers;) Perhaps a good idea toe get back on-topic before this gets out of hand;)

According to a volunteer, emmen now houses three siberian tigers. A new female has been added to increase the chances of reproduction. Both females take turns in going outside with the male. A separate part of the tiger enclosure is now temporary inhabited by the male sri lankan leopard. There is a large probability the female should be pregnant. The intention of the temporary move of the male leopard is to give her as much rest as possible. She also has the choice to whether she wants to be outside or inside, so there's a large possibility visistors will not see a leopard in the leopard exhibit.

Last thursday the long anticipated birth took place. Only one leopard has been born, gender is unknown. It is the first leopard birth in emmen since the seventies.

A short movie containing the moment of brith can be seen here:
