Damn mixed up Emperors and Kings :(

Do any zoos have Emperor Penguins? They used to be regarded as too difficult to keep in captivity, being a 'true antarctic' species rather than subantarctic like the King Penguin. Maybe that has changed now and perhaps they are somewhere like in the Loro Parc exhibit?

Sea World San Diego has 1.0 and the Nagoya Aquarium in Japan has 2.4 emperor pinguins. I just checked it on ISIS

Sea world in the US are afaik the only ones to hold emperor's (and a few in japan...). If i'm correct at least Florida and San Diego hold a decent-sized group.

If i'm correct noone in Europe holds them, not even Loro Parque Tenerife (who has a large indoor pinguin exhibit with real ice) nor Faunia Madrid (who do hold chinstrap).

which Seaworld in the US ?

There are several Sea Worlds in the US -- it is like a chain of Marinelands .
Is it the one in San Diego that has the emporors ?

@ Grantsmb: The moat of the gorilla's will be sloped on the gorilla side so they can walk down into it and touch the wall. I don't really think that putting glass windows in Bokito's exhibit would be sane atm...

@ Nigel: There are three sea-worlds in the USA, and as far as i found on the internet only San Diego hold Emperor's.

Sorry to continue an off-topic point here, but Sea World's ISIS reports are always WAY off, that being said, San Diego is the only one that keeps emperors, but they have more than 1.0, they have a decent sized breeding colony.

I couldn't say, haven't been since they put them back on display. I do know that they also have some at the new waterpark in Orlando.

As of 2006 Sea World San Diego had 36 Emperor Penguins. As for the commerson's dolphin there are 2 in the new Orlando waterpark, Aquatica. I'm not sure how many are in San Diego.
