The new rhinos are named Bill and Bumper. They have a Euasian Lynx now who will be an ambassador animal. Pittsburgh-born siamang Cahya is being successfully introduced to her grandparents and her uncle to raise her. The zoo will stop rotating this exhibit and the two female white-cheeked gibbons will move to Pittsburgh to become Picard’s new companions. The zoo also has three new alpacas.
 
My son has recently become obsessed with sloths! We try to make a trip to Erie every summer, but I can't remember what the sloth exhibit is like. Will he have a chance to get a good look?

The sloth lives in an outdoor exhibit with golden lion tamarins and agoutis. It is located in the zoo’s central plaza. The glass viewing area is covered with a covering with cut outs for viewing because otherwise the exhibit would get too much sun. This area will be renovated in the next couple years.
 
If you are willing to drive an additional 1 and a half hours the Buffalo zoo has a sloth named flash that is part of keeper talks and is regularly inside the living tree house in the education dept. the last I have heard he is part of a 11 am keeper talk outside of the gorilla house. This way you can get an up close view of Flash.
 
More details on the zoos master plan and 10 million dollar fundraising campaign have been revealed. About 9 million has already been raised for the plan.
  • Sloth Bears are receiving an exhibit next to the current cat exhibits.
  • Giraffes will be relocated to a new exhibit 5-6 times the size of the current exhibit. They will be mixed with "birds and antelope."
  • Colobus monkey exhibit with an attached restaurant
  • New exhibits for tree kangaroos and another species tbd
  • Redesigned main entrance and entry plaza
  • Expanded gift shop
  • A new veterinary center & kitchen
  • New train station
