New future additions for Erie - a pair of Madagascar Teal, a female Black Crake for breeding purposes and a flock of Speckled Mousebirds will soon arrive. Additionally, more Père David's Deer will be arriving to join the lone female. The zoo are also hopefully their Canada Lynx and Black-and-white Ruffed Lemur will breed successfully this year: Erie Zoo aims to add these new animals in 2024

I have attached photos of the zoo's new otter habitat that is currently under construction, The red panda habitat is currently under construction to reconfigure it due to the location of the otter building.

The Erie Zoo - closed for the winter months since 2005 - will be having three weekends this winter where they are open for guests. The zoo will be open on the following days from 10 AM to 4 PM:

- Dec 14 & 15
- Jan 18 & 19
- Feb 15 & 16

This first weekend in December will be a "Winter Wonderland" theme, with various events and activities relating to the winter holidays. The other two weekends will also have themes, yet to be decided.

The zoo initially started closing in winter due to funding issues and low attendance, but a number of factors - including recent mild winters - have led to a re-evaluation of this and a decision to try something new with this limited weekend admission.

Tickets will also be discounted $1 for non-members - so $11 per adult rather than $12.

Hopefully Erie will be dug out by next weekend. They have had multiple feet of snow in the past week. The snow total keeps going up.
