"Fingal", a Canadian otter, housed at the Scottish sea life sanctuary near Oban, which had escaped his enclosure 6 weeks ago has been recaptured.
Fingal escaped in November while being moved to a temporary enclosure, so that his enclosure could be modified for the arrival of 3 new animals.

He was spotted at the Connel bridge about 5 miles from the sanctuary, by a member of the public, staff from the sanctuary were alerted and hand fed him for a few days to gain his trust.
Then a trap was laid for him and he was sedated, but Fingal headed for the water, where a boat was waiting for him, and was netted and brought ashore.
At some point during Fingals escape, he had lost a chunk of his tail, possibly in a collision with a boats propellor, a fight with a wild European otter, or getting caught in a trap.
It was subsequently cleaned and stitched, and apart from losing a bit of weight he seems to be nonetheworse for his adventure.
Fingal lost his longterm partner Sula last year, will have the arrival of 2 male and 1 female otter to look forward to, they are being relocaed from an unnamed wildlife centre that has closed down (Mole hall i think).

Yes, the new arrivals are from Mole Hall and look fantastic in the enclosure. With any luck Fingal will be able to be integrated in with them now we have him back
