Eskişehir Zoo Eskisehir zoo

This must be Eskişehir’s year because the zoo also announced the construction of an enclosure for Nile crocodile. I believe the construction is taking place where the mixed species toucan aviary (white-throated toucan, green aracari, and Guianan toucanet) used to be in the tropical building. This begs the question if the saltwater crocodiles are still in the zoo.

The zoo posted more posts on its stories on instagram, showing the arrival of multiple undisclosed animals (one sulcatta tortoise, however, could be seen). The zoo also posted an image of a pair of nile crocodiles which now reside in the new enclosure. IMG_1032.jpeg

The zoo has revealed in an instagram post that two-toed sloth/s are now on display in the tropical center building.

In another post the zoo has revealed that it has obtained Eurasian lynx/es from Latvia.

None of these arrivals were revealed in a dedicated announcement…

A team from Eskisehir zoo has recovered a dead body of a wild Egyptian vulture recently.

Egyptian vulture called Nika hatched in Prague zoo in 2023 and was part of rewilding program in Bulgaria, where she was released wild in 2024. She migrated south and overwintered in Saudi Arabia and returned back to Bulgaria in spring 2025. Her next autumn migration ended in Turkey when her GPS started to send suspect signal. People of Eskisehir zoo offered to look for her, to find her and help her in case she was still alive, driving for 3 hours to her last position. Unfortunately, she was found dead - electrocuted under power lines. RIP

The zoo announced the arrival of four new species. These are marabou, silvery-cheeked hornbill, hammerkop, and military (I can’t tell, the picture isn’t really high quality) macaw. I am under the impression that these birds are from Faruk Yalçın, which has (or had) a large aviary that mixes the former three species.
