yes! I had been waiting on Aye chan May's birth, I never knew when she was due. But congrats to Aye chan May and Bindu. Can't wait for the name

Both Califa and Farina are only 6 years old , I would think rather young to be allowed to get pregnant .
 
yes, I somewhat think the same, but it has been done before. Popular example is Kaveri in paris zoo.
 
hey can anyone confirm that Nikolai from Hannover has gone back to Amsterdam temporarily? I just read this page elephant-Fan.de.

Since all the cows apart from Indra are pregnant. He has gone back to artis to try impregnant Thong Tai again?
 
Yeah that is right. For two weeks, I think, he was transfered to Amsterdam to breed with Thong Thai.
 
Apparently Vishesh in Ostrava is pregnant and expecting in 2011:) So another calf for Calvin!!

By the way does anyone know if Calvin bred with any females at Leipzig zoo during his stay, or any news on them getting their elephant breeding again?
 
I saw him in Rockton Canada where he sired a number of calfs also sired a calf (AI) at the Wastington zoo DC
 
great news for ostrava. As for leipzig Salvana I read was the main one they tried to breed calvin with. I'm very puzzled in what happening to Mekong's breeding instincts does he still mount cows? , or is it that he has a favouritism towards Trinh? A low sperm count but got lucky with Voi Nam?
 
Ostrava zoo has now confirmed that BOTH Jothi and daughter Vishesh are now pregnant. Suprising since that Jothi is now 42 and its been 12 years since she last gave birth.
 
Thanks for the good news, though your right it is very interesting noting Jothi's age but it probably isn't the first case.

Not really...she could have had more calves if she had been kept with a bull at Belfast.
