Both competitors in this match have had a mixed-bag of a Cup thus far, with a single success and two defeats apiece; however, one will end this match with a rather better record - and one which might well secure progression.

The category at hand is GRASSLANDS AND DESERTS - a nice broad one which provides a lot of scope for discussion and debate, and which I hope will encourage plenty of participation!

This looks like it will be the classic quantity vs. quality debate between these neighbours. For the quality of Nuremberg has the edge. With the fantastic desert house, the Mediterranean exhibit and the meerkat exhibit it can offer 3 exhibits of extremely high quality. With plenty of hoofstock and carnivores and some ecotherms elsewhere in the zoo, that makes for a rounded collection.

Plzen has quite some on offer too, with 2 desert houses and a Mediterranean greenhouse, which are quite nice on their own. Then there are many other exhibits which range from good to meh across the lower part of the zoo.

Definitely agree that the quality of Nuremberg, especially where their desert house is concerned, very much deserves to carry the day in my opinion; that said, there is certainly enough quality on offer at Plzen that a 3:2 vote for *either* collection would be entirely legitimate - and I definitely wouldn't agree with anyone casting a 4:1 vote in either direction.

Anyone fancy posting their thoughts on the matter? :)

I want to highlight Nürnberg and the Saharan striped polecats that seems to find new holders apart from Nürnberg thanks to the breeding success in the past years.

I can't think of any bad exhibits within this category at Nürnberg. Plzen has some stunning things offer too, but also some exhibits that can do better. Therefore 3:2 for the german one.

I will vote 3/2 with Nurnberg getting the majority. Despite not being able to fully experience Mediterranium due to the weather I still was able to see the ground squirrels. I found myself revisiting all the exhibits lintworm mentioned on Nurnberg. I sadly can’t the same for Plzen.

Although i didn't voted for Plzen, i've got one too.

The paddock for asiatic ungulates (Bactrian camel & Kulan) is excellent example how to use plants at a Zoo. The barrier between animal and human is vanishing thanks to the plants. (At least at a few months of the year)

A somewhat closer match than I initially expected, but also a surprisingly quiet match!

Plzen & AkvaTera - 48/105 points - 45.714%
Nuremberg - 57/105 points - 54.286%
