A fairly broad topic this time round, which will hopefully allow for a lot of discussion and debate to take place - ECTOTHERMS.

I will be very interested to see where this one goes!

Stuttgarts terrarium & aquarium house is one of the most species rich buildings at Europe, if not the world with mostly pretty decent exhibits. Maybe a large, breath-taking main tank is missing but therefore the landscape aquariums belong to the best of their kind thanks to the fabulous botanists of the Wilhelma and there is a very bright crocodile hall with Salties and Freshies (probably the only non-crocodile zoo at Europe to offer this?). There is also an Insektarium with some terrariums and a butterfly walkthrough. If i remember correctly there are also five outdoor terrariums for European reptiles, although from a visitor perspective kind of unattractive. A few more exhibits are at the tropical house (One caiman with some larger south american fish, poison dart frogs and green anacondas).

Given the fact, that at one of the French zoos the terrarium is closed i think 4:1 is a solid way to start. Maybe i find some time tomorrow to search for some pics.

I haven't found the time for pictures, but I would be really interested why so many have given two points to Paris?

Stuttgart has more than four time the animals than the two collections at Paris (427 for the German one and 108 for the French duo according to ZTL, so without invertebrates, where the collection at Stuttgart should also be larger)

Since I don't see an advantage in terms of exhibit at Paris and the fact that Stuttgart has (way) more rarities i'm kind of wondering about the current standing at this match.

At least for me, it's largely lack of information. I mostly vote based on arguments advanced here and currently we only have a brief summary/description by you (thank you for doing at least that) of what Stuttgart has to offer. While you do say you are voting 4-1 for those reason, I tend to lean more conservative until more information is provided.

On this occasion, I think the comparison is very uneven. Overall, Stuttgart's collection is one of the most outstanding in Europe and far superior to those in Paris. I've only been to Paris once, and I found the Menagerie to be a very old-fashioned and small zoo, and the zoo disappointed me: it was pretty but lacked charm. Stuttgart is far from perfect (for example, in my opinion, it overuses cement and the brutalist style), but overall, I find it far superior.

It's hard for me to say with how little has been provided for Stuttgart, but looking at the sheer numbers and given my limited knowledge of their supposedly good Aquarium and other exhibits, I have reluctantly gone for 4-1. If the Menagerie Reptile House was open, then that, on top of the Menagerie Vivarium, the European Vivarium at Vincennes and the various excellent displays for notable reptiles, amphibians, and particularly fish in the Serre Tropicale, and Paris would certainly be worthy of 2 points.

That said, I do agree with @remar that the enormously one-sided species lists and the marginal difference in exhibitry (even if there is an argument to be made that Paris is superior here, there isn't much in it) means this is a 4-1. But the unique focus of the European Vivarium, beauty of the Serre Tropicale (despite its many flaws, the ectotherm features within it are among the best it has to offer) could be enough to salvage a second point once combined with the gorgeous architecture and old-fashioned, traditional charm of the Reptile House!

A very quiet match all round, although participation (if not discussion) did pick up a little at the end:

Paris - 27/95 points - 28.421%
Stuttgart - 68/95 points - 71.579%
