Australia Zoo Expansion Plans on Hold

Australia Zoo seems also to have stopped all travel by it's staff. I nkow they were due to look at a group of marmosets this week to take up residence at the zoo at the end of this year. This has been postponed and these marmosets may have to go elsewhere. These 15 common marmosets were around 5 hours drive from the zoo but the "budget" wouldn't allow the travel and the new home for the marmosets may be cancelled.

I see that Australia Zoo apparently now has no cotton-top tamarins, but five common marmosets. Can you shed any light on where they might have come from? And does anyone know what happened to the cotton-tops?

The two male cotton-tops went to Alma Park Zoo and the female went to Cairns Tropical Zoo.

They may have come from the University of New England at Armidale, that is where they were originally looking at the 15 marmosets.

Non invasive brain research, Researching the ways the communicate with eachother. No different than a Zoo.

well can you tell me how it is possible to be able to be allowed to have marmoset monkeys? can you apply to have a permit if you have them on "public display" in some way? How do some people get to have them "privately" owned?

Marmosets are not pets.
