Toronto Zoo Fact of the Week.

GoI was just thinking today that if they did'nt end up renovating the Eurasia area, the (soon) former barbary ape exhibits could become new homes (wih slight renovations) for sun bears and sloth bears!

I am sure they will end up renovating Eurasia regardless.

With regards to the dholes, could they not source a male (or semen) from a male at Howlett's? They do seem to have quite a few of them :)

I have no clue! I guess there needs to be some research in order to do that.

Nice listing of breedings and species there! I'm curious about the new False Gharial exhibit and I must admit, I had to google Tentacled Snake. What a strange species!/

I like the future species, too. Chinese Giant Salamanders are another old school species!

Hello again everyone;

Would this new False Gharial Exhibit be expanded from the old one? Where the turtles are now, or a brand new exhibit?

Thank you.

Yes the exhibit would be expanded form the current location. What turtles are you talking about?

OOO, Love the plans here

Otters and Langur are especially exciting (Langur could maybe live in that valley area if they meshed it in)

I *think* (but could be wrong) that there are few zoos that have Languars in North America, so we might have ourselves another rarity :)

So let me get this straight, are these 1.2 new wolves going to be living in the former arctic wolf habitat whilst the current non-breeding pack is out in Tundra Trek?

Also, what other cheetahs have been recomended to breed? Im guessing Luke and Shamwari, but we also have several other cheetahs who are fairly young

Yes they plan on bringing in 1.2 new wolves and if and when they breed they will swap the current group with the old group.

It will be sad to see the dogs go Meaghan!

I'm glad they're still planning on bringing wolverines in :) I was hoping that they'd be in the tundra area, but I think it makes more sense to put them in the woodlands.

Stellar's Sea Eagle are VERY impressive birds, like a mismarked Bald Eagle. I've never seen them in person, though, only in pictures/video
