Toronto Zoo Fact of the Week.

Oh, and I think we might possibly have some more species to display in the new Eurasia. I recall reading an article that discussed the zoo getting pandas, and mentioned also getting Blue Sheep and some kind of desert cat, too.

I know the article you are talking about Meaghan, however I havem't heard of any new animals comming in for Eurasia.

No to sure Meaghan, haven't heard or seen much. It is winter and when people say nothing much happens they really mean nothing much happens. If I haven't mentioned that the Canadian Lynx and Arctic foxes are on display in the Domain and that the polar bears are breeding continuously.

The Eurasian Gardens/ and Dr. memorial has started construction! As well as the African Pavilion is taking shape!

Just giving the heads up!

Terrific! It'd be nice if the Eurasian gardens would be done by the summer, I've always felt the zoo couldn't have too many flower beds.

No pictures sorry, they don't turn out good, not a lot of light so I didn't bother.

In regard to the Eurasian Garden just a general wondering if known: where is that exactly being built? Are any exhibits closed for it's construction? Is it being built where the current Marco Polo exhibits are?

Thanks.

Nice area for it! I haven't been in that direct area for a while, but I do remember it looking rather run down looking last time I was there.

It's not even a particularly old area, if I remember it was the last section of the zoo built (before Tundra, of course). I think the weather also holds a key to the zoo aging in certain areas.

I was told it was one of the oldest sections of the zoo?

Actually, I think I will do a little bit of digging to figure out information about the zoo sections and when they were built.

Meant the style :)

I remember there was .pdf on the Toronto.ca site which had a listing of when certain exhibits opened. The raccoon exhibit, for example, was opened in 1987 if I remember correctectly.
