I'm a lot late on this but planning a visit to the zoo in a few months but this just sounds plain stupid. This is like the pregnant women who got stuck on the Skyfari at Bronx and is suing over the emotional fear of being over dangerous-looking Baboons. When you ride a ride anywhere, you take a slight risk. Unless there was some gross incompetence...like going too fast or dangerously showboating...dust the dirt off of your knees, check on your kids, and go about life. Your first concern in a situation like this should be your family, not how much money you can sue for. File a motion so that the zoo is required to provide evidence and the like, fine. But suing...really? How come I never get stuck in dangerous situations so I can retire in my 20's?
