Farming cane rats in Ghana

Very interesting. I lived in Ghana a long time ago and I once ate grasscutter (cane rat) and so I can testify that it is very good. Quite understandably, I never saw a live one; but they are much larger than the other rodents in West Africa and definitely the premium local bushmeat.
If they do well in captivity, I don't see why they couldn't be kept in zoos, although they are not particularly attractive animals. They might do well on the floor of an aviary of Guinea savannah birds (blue-breasted rollers and grey hornbills would be geographically appropriate) and it would be interesting to house them next to a duiker species of similar size.

I like to call them cutty-grasses, because that's what Gerald Durrell called them in his books
