Faunaland Faunaland News

Faunaland announced today that they acquired a female Papuan eagle (Harpyopsis novaeguineae), named Tera, from BKSDA. Tera is currently living behind the screen. Other species that they announced are a macropodidae which already revealed to be a dusky pademelon (Thylogale brunii), living in a closed chain-link exhibit previously used for a single black giant squirrel (Ratufa bicolor bicolor), living next to a grizzled tree-kangaroo (Dendrolagus inustus) named Jacky. The last one is a canid which they haven't announced online.

The zoo's proboscis monkey apparently has born last month. I'm suprised that they haven't posted anything about the birth. They also managed to breed their tree-kangaroos, but the carrying mother sadly have a miscarriage.

It safe to say that all of the "new' birds of prey here, except the crested serpent eagle, Javan hawk-eagle, and Papuan eagle, are probably just Fardhan Khan's (Former actor and now a falconer, among other activities) own raptors that he bring to work, when used to be the director of Faunaland.

Faunaland acquired lots and LOTS of new animals which included:
  • Sailfin dragons
  • Alligator snapping turtle
  • Pied stilts
  • Arabian oryx
  • Cuvier's dwarf caiman (FINALLY A DANG CROCODILIAN)
  • Leopard geckos
  • Valais blacknose sheep
  • Rhinoceros iguana
And I saw in one video, an exhibit under construction in the bird island area. Probably for ostriches or other ratites like emus and rheas.
