Favorite monkey species

They're all amazing, but if I have to choose. Marmosets and Tamarins (all species) are at the top followed by Capuchin, Proboscis, Uakari, Howlers, & Snub -Nose species. But then Langurs, Spiders, Colobus are up there as well. They're all so unique, I really can't single out a particular favourite.

Vervets are probably my favorite, but there's a few also up on my list. Lion-tailed macaques, squirrel monkeys, cotton-top and golden lion tamarins, Wolf's guenons, and geladas fascinate me.

For me it has to be the Pied Tamarin. Endless range of forceful personalities. Gorilla sized attitude in a squirrel sized body.

Couldn't agree more, love the way you describe its temperament, despite being pint sized they do indeed have such large personalities.

I think they are actually one of the most beautiful and interesting primate species I've had the pleasure of (kind of / indirectly) working with and I hope I have further opportunities in the future to work more extensively with them and ideally in-situ.

REALLY tough call, but I'd say my favorites are these polar opposites; Geoffroy's spider monkey and Gelada. I suppose you can take each of them as my favorite New World and Old World monkeys. As a whole, though, I must admit I prefer new worlders just a liiittle bit more, but all monkeys are good in my book! :)

I can't believe I didn't see this before. Woolly monkeys have to be my FAVORITE species, but I like them all!

Also much more of a fan of the "New worlders".

Iv'e only seen 6 species of monkey in captivity (0 wild) so I'll just choose those that I haven't seen and I really like.

Golden Lion Tamarin
Emperor Tamarin
Silvery Marmoset
Red Shanked Douc
Golden Snub Nosed
Chamba Sacred Langur
Yunnan Snub Nosed
Common Marmoset
Monk and White Faced Saki's
Mona Monkey
Blue Nile Patas
Golden Monkey

I love primates, but Great Apes especially.

I’ve seen all four species; Gorilla, Orangutan, Chimpanzee, and Bonobo in captivity. My favourite out of the four though, would have to be the Chimpanzee.

Hello Jambo. Please note there are 2 species of gorillas and 3 species of orang-utans

They are species. The Tapanuli orang-utan was discovered in 2017, but the western and eastern gorillas and Bornean and Sumatran orang-utans were recognised as separate species several years ago.

Ok, thanks for the clarification.

Geladas are pretty cool. They look like a fantasy creature almost. Going to the highlands and see giant troops of them eating grass is something that I always wanted to do.
