Favorite Music :)

Between 1963 and 1983 I was a rock/pop/soul music fanatic - music was by far my biggest interest. I am still interested but no longer a fanatic. My musical taste is still about the same as during that period. My favorite artists, in more or less chronological order:

Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, The Supremes, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Velvet Underground, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, John Lennon (as post-Beatles solo artist), Derek & The Dominos (Clapton on lead guitar), Rod Stewart, David Bowie, Roxy Music, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Ramones, Joy Division (the band that later turned into New Order)

I was also quite keen on jazz-rock, reggae and blues.

During the 1990s I became interested in modern country-rock and fell in love with the music of Emmy-Lou Harris, Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yoakam and Steve Earle, to mention but a few.

I still go to rock concerts, though not as often as before and I have seen the majority of the artists mentioned live. Best concert ever? Either Emmy-Lou Harris at a small rock club 7 or 8 years ago or David Bowie 1976, during his "Thin White Duke"-tour!

I already mentioned I like rammstein, but has anyone here already heard and seen the new sinlge 'pussy'? The videoclip is provoking to say the least. Personally I can see the humour in it, and I would like to place a link, but the content is not to be seen by minors, and since this is a public forum.....

Yes I've seen that. Graphic to say the least, although I imagine it isn't them in certain parts of the video!

No, they are indeed not the ones in action in certain parts. They hired actors for that, and their heads were put in place later.

I'd use the term actors loosely (err...) when describing them :D

Yay a thread on music!

Favorite band of all time is Rush...canadian prog rock!

I find that most "modern" music hasnt got the musical talent of older stuff.... 70s and 80s band used proper musuicans.... not drum machines and sequencers....

Anyway....

Also a big fan of film music.

Ooooh, I want to join in!! :D
I love a lot of different kinds of music... I love ska, reggae, punk, skapunk, pop-punk... just love that rhythm.. THE best to dance to. I also like quite embarrassing old stuff, like rock n' roll and motown, or random 80s stuff (Huey Lewis and the News lol). Lots of rock, a bit of metal, little bit of indie (Kings of Leon at the mo), folksy stuff (ADORE Newton Faulkner)
Some of my favourite bands are Rancid, Weezer, Skindred, Offspring, Guns n Roses, Sublime, The Specials, Ash, Queen, Madness and <3 <3 <3 THE JAM <3 <3 <3
Isn't it funny how we all know everyone has a LOT of music they love, but when it comes to writing it down you can never remember it all... :p:p

Although it's a shame what Britney did to this song and now I can never hear it in the same way. :)

I have been around music forever! My Grandmother was a music teacher and she lived with us when I was growing up so It's always been a big part of my life. I was raised on a diet of Beethoven, Saint-saens, Prokofiev and many more but Symphony no6, Carnival of the animals and peter and the wolf are the ones I remember the clearest, probably as they tie in with my love of Nature!
When I was a Teenager I got into Queen in a massive way and I eventually progressed into heavier bands:
Mötley Crüe
Guns 'n' Roses
Black Sabbath
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Megadeth
All of which I've seen live. There are plenty of other bands I like too but I won't continue to bore everyone with an Immense list!
If anyone likes their Rock you might fancy having a shoofty of my girlfriends band

I like some Cumbia music and also some classical composers are good to listen too (ironically although I am Mexican , i hate Mariachi music immensely)

I geuss you could say im stuck in the 60s , 70s and 80s in my musical taste , i absoloutely cannot stand the new music i hear these days , i just find it absoloutely revolting , too commercial and it lacks any kind of spirit or meaning or message. The word "Musician" i believe should be applied to someone who can actually play a musical instrument or hold a tune , or at least tries to communicate a meaningful message to the listener. Whenever my son turns on the channel "MTV" and i happen to watch it ,i realise that "musical talent" isnt what it once meant to my generation , now it consists of attractive girls wearing revealing clothing, miming whilst moving their bodies in a provocative manner and alienated and angry young fellows talking over a backing track and waving their hands like they have cerebal paulsy whilst preaching lyrics of treating women like pieces of meat and of how it is "cool" to shoot someone to get a reputation and respect from peers. I really feel sorry for the younger generations that they have so little in the way of good music for inspiration.Sorry for the rant , im just mourning the death of good music.
