Favorite TV show as a child.

Ouhh, there were many. However, when we pick out the animal related series/shows, then my favourite ones were:
-Daktari (I don't think I have to explain this show, do I?)
-Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom (running in German speaking countries as "Im Reich der wilden Tiere")
-Expeditionen ins Tierreich (with Heinz Sielmann)
-Ein Platz für Tiere (with Bernhard Grzimek)
-Flipper (Florida became my dream destination because of this show)
and later, as a Teenager/Twen:
-Sheena (less because of the animals, more because of Gina Lee Nolin...;):p)

Do note that this is the older stop-motion series, not the new CGI version. This ones a little cheesy, and usually aimed for the really young demographic but It was one of my favorites. I guess I really liked all the characters, and the atmosphere in general. I think especially in the night scenes the production team had a lot of creative camera choices and lots of natural elements and music used here. Such fun!
Also, the Narrator. Oh wow, his voice was like music to my ears. When He talked, I listened.

Of course his voice was like music, it was Ringo Starr of The Beatles! At least that was who narrated Thomas when I was little.

Strangely, I remember a similar series called Tugs (think Thomas the Tank Engine but with boats)

Other series that made an impression on me were Around The World with Willy Fog (catchy songs!), and The Animals of Farthing Wood (a series both beautiful and horrifying. If you know, you know)
 
Although I think I've listed pretty much all the TV shows I watched as a child (I never really watched TV much anyway) In around March of this year I got an unexpected interest that I'm sure at least some person on this forum has heard of-

Looney tunes.

I dunno why, But bugs bunny to me as a kid was just the WB logo rabbit I had seen once or twice, but for some reason it stuck. And I would never in a million years would think that I would watch Looney tunes at this day in age, Partially because they're so old at this point, but also I would never think I would find them funny. I always got this view that these sort of things were for younger children, but for some reason I randomly found one online one day and I started laughing my head off. Nearly scared the cat. Yeah, In light of this recent Interest I have been reading some very interesting books on the cartoon series and It's become a pivotal interest in my life, and I continue to learn more about the people making them, the history, and some great Animator Identifying skills. ;)

For some, unexplained reason I posted this.

Ah well, (I say that a lot), We'll see how my Looney tunes interest is perceived.
 
One show I really liked watching during my childhood was Visiting with Huell Howser which was on KCET (a secondary PBS member television station in Los Angeles, California) that featured the diverse people, places, and events that make southern California a unique place. I learned a great deal from Huell Howser's programs, and I loved how positive he was and loved seeing his desire to learn. Huell Howser's wanderlust was something I strongly related to and still relate to. Unfortunately Huell Howser died of lung cancer in 2013. I still watch his shows and look back on them with nostalgia.

Here are some episodes of Visiting with Huell Howser that are related to the natural world.

Bug Fair, featuring his visit to the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History during their 22nd annual Bug Fair;

Worms, featuring his visit to Rainbow Mealworms & Crickets, a company based out of Compton, Los Angeles County, California that supplies feeder insects to zoos and the pet trade;

Moorten Botanical Garden, featuring his visit to this cactus garden that has been a Palm Springs, Riverside County, California attraction for more than three generations;

Palms, featuring his visit to the home of a man named Ralph Valez, based in Westminster, Orange County, California who has 560 species of palm tree on his property;

Joshua tree special, featuring his visit to Joshua Tree National Park;
