FAVOURITE

With the summer season coming to a close I thought I would put up a thread so people could say thank you or well done to there favourite photographers or for the best photograph

I must admit I find Gentle Lemurs photographs great to look at and think they are some of the best photographs now on this site.

He seems to be able to get a great result from some hard to take places

Just like to say

Thank you Gentle Lemur for your hard work this year

Gentle Lemur is brilliant (and you can tell his photos a mile off). SMR also takes a good picture, and some of Javan Rhino's snaps are alright :p

Seriously though, I think everybody posting photographs deserves a big thank you for taking the time and sharing with us. So, thank you to everybody :D

Ironically I don't post many animal photos to ZooChat, but you may want to revoke any positive comments after seeing the shot just uploaded to Adrian's http://www.zoochat.com/173/competition-you-dont-want-win-177846/ thread.

Alan's photos have a certain "look" that separates them from the crowd, and I'd most definitely go along with the high praise for the shots he uploads... and in addition add some kudos for lugging around that monster of a lens and for battling with stubborn holly bushes!

You may not post many SMR, but allow me to remind you of that pic of Upali at Chester you posted a short while back. And a few others as well (just looked through your 'find all gallery uploads').

Also, I don't think this has to be about animals, you and zoogiraffe are just a couple I can think of that keep us up-to-date with photographs of enclosures and construction work (your pics of the giant otter pool construction). So I don't take it back, everybody on zoochat deserves a big thank you for sharing their pictures, you as well :D

To me a zoo is more than the animals so always try to post a picture that tells people something about what is going on in that zoo, just think in 30 years time when the Tropical Realm at Chester has gone we will still have a record of how the croc enclosure was built.

I quite agree, I have only managed to find ONE picture of the old orang-house interior. 30 years down the line (or even 20 or 10) we may have people wanting to see what the old chimp house or giraffe house looks like (especially if all changes with Natural Vision).

I also don't know of any pics showing the Tropical Realm hornbill aviaries when they were indoor housing for the gorillas. I for one like comparing old and new, and seeing how specific exhibits/areas have evolved over the years.

I wonder if thier could be a Old Days photo gallery or even put it in the normal gallery I'm sure this would make a lot of members happy
Where as at the moment they have to trail through the complete gallery of a certain zoo to try and find any old time photographs only to find there are none in that gallery

Maybe a good idea what do you think

Possible, but would there be a limit on the age? With how some things change it might even be a case of 'how an exhibit looked last year.' For example, the Sea Lion pool at Chester is drastically different now it has been converted for Giant Otters, and that is only within the space of 6-12 months.
