Can anyone tell me where Fergus is at the moment? He is the brother of Felix who is at Melbourne Zoo.
Thanks

Fergus is currently at Taronga Zoo (I think he is in the exhibit next to the binturongs while Kambiri the female is in the exhibit with glass viewing next to the otters). :)

he should be still at Taronga, shouldn't he?

EDIT: cross-posted with Jabiru96

thanks. I assume that they are going to mate the pair sometime.

I wish they would import some new ones for that purpose! All the ones still in the country are related to one another.

Chlidonias, here's a teaser for you that has me puzzled.
Endangered male pygmy hippo calf makes debut at Melbourne Zoo - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
The following is the last paragraph of the above article.

Mr Uren said it was very important that the calf was a male and once he gets older he will be heading off to Adelaide Zoo to participate in their breeding program.

maybe he means with Adelaide's female Janice who died in 2012 :D

But seriously, I do hope that means some new ones are coming in. It's not like Adelaide, though, to actually increase their species on show!

It may also just mean the usual "holding random individual animals equals participating in the breeding programme".

I guess we wait and see!

further to the above, there is actually no current IRA for hippos so none will be getting imported any time soon. If Adelaide receives a female, it will be an Australian-bred one.

Current females, mother or sister. Future females yet to be born, sister or niece.
