The zoo has announced the departure of the Common Marmoset family that was rescued by the zoo in 2019. They are heading to Chew Valley Animal Park near Bristol. Log in to Facebook
On September 6th, the zoo announced they moved 3 African spurred tortoises to the slender-tailed meerkat / African* crested porcupine exhibit.
Fife Zoo
* Zootierliste lists the porcupine of the African species, but the porcupine looks more Indian to me.
Considering the article doesn't show the porcupine I wonder how you came to that conclusion![]()

The fossa - Madagascar's largest carnivore that you may have never heard of!
This cat-like predator is closely related to the mongoose family and is well-equipped to chase down lemurs in their forest habitat
Fossas are exceptional climbers and jumpers, with semi-retractable claws and flexible ankles that allow them to run up and down trees hunting prey.
Fossas are elusive and solitary animals, spending their time both in the trees and on the ground and are active at any time of the day.
Fossas use scent to communicate and keep track of each other, scent marking rocks, trees, or even just the ground with scent glands on the chest and under the base of the tail.
It is estimated that as few as 2,500 fossas remain in the wild

Zoo celebrates arrival of 'rare and charismatic' baby monkey
The new arrival is the third baby born to parents Nut and Dusty.
It was extremely small when I visited- maybe takes 10 minutes to get from one side to the other. It is a relatively nice place, but there seems to be work being done or parts being closed off, at least when I visited a month and a half ago. The aviary seems to have been closed for years, and the signs are very faded. All of the enclosures are of decent to high quality for the animals. This is another zoo that I've had on my radar for quite a while, I might see if I can squeeze in a first visit visit some time next year. While there doesn't seem to be much there right now, I do have a fondness for small zoos, and the species line-up has a lot in common with one of my favourite zoos Lakeland Wildlife Oasis (an African aviary, fossas, white-faced saki, red-footed tortoises). Is it a good place?
