Local newspapers report the first documented breeding of golden jackal in the Czech republic. Photo traps placed in former military training area near Milovice (ca 50 km north-east of Prague) managed to take dozens of jackal pictures, including one cub and lactating female. While unverified sightings of cubs appear from time to time (mostly from southern Moravia - near Slovakian and Austrian border), this is the first solid record for the country.

Golden jackal areal is currently experiencing a massive expansion though warmer lowlands of Central Europe. They seem to spread across agricultural flatland and along valleys of larger rivers. It is probably matter of few years when they will breed in Germany and Poland too.
