San Diego Zoo First Trip to San Diego Zoo!!! :D

So I will be going to the San Diego Zoo for the first time EVER this March. I noticed that a portion of the map is striped out due to construction for Africa Rocks. Which animals are not able to be seen due to this construction?

Will I still get to see my harpy eagles? :O

The harpy eagles are in the raptor aviaries on the other side of the zoo from Africa Rocks, so it should be fine.
 
My review of San Diego Zoo is here: https://www.zoochat.com/community/posts/845862 You can see which species were in the area now under construction for Africa Rocks - I don't think have been moved to exhibits elsewhere, although some (cougar, fossa, giant anteater, New Guinea singing dog) did already have duplicate exhibits elsewhere in the zoo.

The area under construction was big cat row, meaning you are missing the best part! :p (I am a cat guy for those who don't know).

As stated, the mountain lions already have a new exhibit across from polar bears. The jaguars have a semi-new exhibit in Elephant Odyssey (as do lions, but theirs is too small and you are better off watching lions at San Diego Safari Park). The sad thing about your timing is you will miss the new amur leopard and snow leopard exhibits that open this summer. But there is plenty else to see at this zoo - more animals than you can likely see in one day.

I do hope you are making time for the Safari Park as well, which many of us prefer to the zoo.
 
Thanks, everyone! :) Does anyone know if the ratel is still visible with the construction as well? I'm particularly interested in this species!
 
The ratel was in one of the old small cages across from the big cat exhibits. That means it will probably not be on show anymore since it's part of the Africa Rocks section.
 
mstickmanp is correct, the ratel is no longer on exhibit. I miss watching her.
