First Visit Of 2021?

It won't be my actual first 2021 visit, as I went to Twycross on the first weekend of the year, but I'm booked in with my parents to visit YWP on the 18th April if all runs to plan (they're taking me to the zoo for my birthday - it's like being 12 again :D ).
I still get the occasional zoo trip for a present as well, and I'm about the same age as you... :D Last year my parents paid for a trip to Exmoor & Combe Martin, a couple of years before was Dudley, and for my 24th they took me to Twycross.

Don't worry, you're not alone! :p

I went to Whipsnade and Hamerton on 1st and 3rd January so won't be my first 2021 visits either.
I plan on going to at least one zoo a day that first week(I have plenty of unused leave) , starting with Hamerton.
Colchester, Whipsnade, Linton, Africa Alive are probably the most likely others, but it depends which zoos make tickets available the earliest.

I'll have to widen the net. I think most of us a more than ready to get out in that fresh spring air though aren't we? :)
I need a few days away as much as a zoo trip, but hotels wont be open for several weeks after.
Feeling quite negative at the minute and imagining that the opening of zoos will be marked by weeks of wet weather, while indoor areas remain closed

Hotels are open now and have been for a while for “work” purposes, I work mostly on the road and trust me the open for work is a very lose term for quite a few of the guest, I’m sure some I saw recently in Newcastle where locals checked in to get a steak and pint or two ;)

I think I’ll start with small local zoos near me this summer (beale park, berkshire college) because they are probably the most in need of financial support and they will be a lot less busy than some of the bigger zoos.

I had a visit to Cincinnati last week...and with spring break this upcoming week I hope to hit some different places :).

I’ve already visited Minnesota & Como zoos this year. I hope to visit Minnesota zoo a few more times, along with Como & Lake Superior zoos.

I'm planning for a trip to the Welsh Mountain zoo (mainly to see how the new Snow Leopard enclosure is getting on) but all will depend on the Welsh government
Ah yea, of course. Hopefully I will be able to get a trip down there soon enough too.

Gonna do as many as I can lol my birthday last yr was in lockdown this yr I plan to be at Lincolnshire wildlife park hopefully, then I have tickets from Dec for Colchester haven’t been there for over ten yrs so looking forward to that plan on Dudley as it’s local and I’m a twycross pass holder (need to renew first ) and when the sea lions have moved Yorkshire will be visited as well lol can’t wait just wish it was sooner x
Don’t forget your Twycross pass is being extended to cover any time lost on it when the zoo was closed. I’ve just book my first visit on the 18th and my pass says it runs out on the 1st and it went through fine

Me too, I'd love to see how it looks in person and how they've settled into it. All depends on if allowed to travel over the border from Cheshire.

This is in the UK thread
- and the significance is that zoos have been closed for 6 1/2 months out of the last 12, AND those in England face a second Easter without income; in addition to (of course) a pent-up frustration by those who visit us.

I have passes for 5 zoos and have or will refuse the extensions on all of them!

We are very fortunate that this is the position taken by many (perhaps even most) of our season ticket holders, and we offer our thanks to everyone who has supported in this way. To be fair to everyone, we will of course extend the passes if this is insisted upon; and at Hamerton this will be in the form of a winter/spring pass for next year valid for the same period ie 27th December 2021 until April 11th 2022; which can be used on its own or incorporated into (extend) a pass purchased anytime up to 26th December.
