First Visit Of 2021?

Looks like I missed out on the early bookings for Chester so I'm going to have to wait, first trip may end up being WMZ instead or somewhere else.

All booked for whipsnade for opening day.
Have to say they learnt from the previous disaster with booking for members this time round.

Yea, definitely going to keep a look out.
And this has already paid off, seems to be quite a lot of free spaces at Chester now so I'm booked in for the 13th. Seems that the panic buying mindset from this time a year ago still exists but for different reasons. ;)

In the first 2 weeks I have booked for Hamerton and Whipsnade, will also go to Linton.
Colchester are only taking bookings 2 days in advance so will go there if I can. I will also be going to somewhere near the coast, possibles are Jimmy's Farm, Africa Alive, Wildwood, Thrigby.

Gimme a shout and I'll roll out the red carpet!;)

As I expected, no chance of getting Colchester in the first week. First I couldn't even get on website, then over an hour queue. By 4pm all passholder tickets gone!
So, my first 4 visits for the first 2 weeks will be Hamerton, Wildwood, Port Lympne, Whipsnade
Africa Alive ruled itself out by only taking members the first week

We would be very interested to know if bird walk-throughs are open this week'
DEFRA appear to be saying that birds can be released onto free-range but must be kept away from the public, as bird-flu cases continue.
But, when I checked the Slimbridge web-site, they are opening on12th despite being very much walk-through, and the only zoo (so far as I know) to have had cases of bird-flu on the site, both in captive and wild birds.

As a casual observer looking at DEFRA’s site and trawling thru various links for England this page (schedule 1) seems to give guidance.
https://assets.publishing.service.g...ion-biosecurity-revoking-housing-measures.pdf
Yes indeed - this appears to mean that zoo walk-through aviaries can open, but that Slimbridge (for example) cannot, as it cant comply with (at least) measures 3 and 10(h) of the minimum requirements in schedule 1; zoos being exempt from only the extra conditions in schedule 2.
Hence our request, as we were wondering which other walk-through aviaries were open this week.

Finally booked my first visit of 2021 - a visit to Watatunga Wildlife Park on 26th. It's my birthday week so planning a few more visit that week but nothing firmed up yet. Will be round the East Anglia region....
