Vancouver Aquarium Fish Donation

Hello,

How do I donate a large fish to the Vancouver Aquarium? Could someone kindly tell me who to contact? Thank you.

Regards,
Deedra :)

Someone has purchased a fish without doing the relevant research into its mature size and requirements, I take it.

You would need to contact the aquarium directly, but do not be surprised if they tell you they do not take in animals from private keepers. Many zoos and aquaria won't. If they don't already have a suitable exhibit for the species, they almost certainly won't be able to help.

What species and size is the fish?

Hello CGSwans,

I'm afraid that's not quite accurate. The fact is I previously owned a

pet store and am fully aware of the mature size and requirements of my

now 14 - 15 inch Iridescent shark.

Unfortunately though, I am no longer in a position to continue with the

care of my fish and therefore am responsibly seeking a healthy

alternative for him.

The Vancouver Aquarium was one of two options suggested to me. Out of the

two options I felt the aquarium would be the best way to share my fish

with many.

I do thank you for responding to my question though, and I will most

certainly take your advice and contact the aquarium directly.

Should the aquarium not pan out my second choice has informed me that

they would be more than happy to have my fish.

All the best to you too,

Deedra

Deedra,

Glad to hear that the all-too-common story is not the case this time. My apologies.

The best thing to do is find out if Vancouver or any other aquarium in the local area has an exhibit that they would put a large, freshwater fish from Asia in. I've never been to Canada but going from the web, Vancouver's freswater displays are Amazon based, so they might not be interested.
