Five Sisters Zoo Park Five Sisters Zoo

NEWS UPDATE

"There have been a lot of developments going on over the last few weeks both good and bad. The bad news is that Brian one of our directors has suffered a serious leg injury and will be incapacitated for some time, the timing couldn't have been much worse as we have some exciting new animals coming to the zoo before the end of March and Brian would normally be the main person in overseeing the planning and construction of new enclosures which require completion in a very short period of time.
Sometimes because of the type of zoo we are circumstances dictate that we do not have a lot of time to plan ahead when certain animals become available for whatever reason.
We shall hopefully announce next week the new animals that will be arriving one of which we can say now is an orphaned bear cub from Russia which we hope will be a companion for Eso our other rescued young bear.
We will be intensely busy getting these new homes prepared over the coming weeks for our new arrivals and will do our best to minimise disruption for visitors"

So going off the quotes of
"because of the type of zoo we are circumstances dictate we do not have a lot of time to plan ahead when certain animals become available"

do we reckon these could be rescue animals from a circus or run down zoo facing closure? At least we only have 1 week to wait to discover.

The new bear cub is a female called Byara and was discovered in a "small wooden house and fed on bread and water" in Russia back in 2019. She is due to arrive in Scotland over the next few weeks.

On Social Media, they say they have 2 Clouded Leopards and will be on show from 26th March. Also say they have another big announcement to make for another new exhibit also to be on show on the 26th, but no reveal on that yet.

New teaser post on Instagram from Five Sisters Zoo saying that their new species goes on show April 1st.

They say the only place to see them in Scotland.

Its clearly a big cat of some description (Or a large cat, that's technically a small cat). Rules out Lions as they are at Edinburgh and Blair Drummond. Amur Tigers are at Highland Wildlife Park as well. Snow Leopard at Highland Wildlife Park too. Sumatran Tigers are at Edinburgh.

So this really only could be a Cheetah, Jaguar, Puma or Amur Leopard.

Now for me by the way they say you'll have to be fast by buying tickets, I think they are hinting it could be Cheetahs, which aren't currently held in Scotland.

Amur Leopards are at Highland, but Off show.

However the paw print does kind of look like a Jaguar.

Exciting for the park anyway.

It showed a photo of the animal on instagram, and it looks to be a clouded leopard

No that's the exhibit that opened to the public today. They said earlier in the week there was another announcement to come later in the week. Today on Instagram they have announced another new exhibit will open April 1st and its the only place in Scotland to have whatever it is and has just put up a picture of a Paw Print.
