Florida Zoo Advice

Hi Guys

I'm visiting orlando again in feb next year and would like some recommendations on zoos. I have been to Disney,Lowry Park Zoo, Silver Springs, Busch Gardens, Seaworld and Miami Metro Zoo in previous years and i'm looking for a new zoo to visit.

I did think about Jacksonville Zoo but a 3hr journey eachway is a bit too much for a day trip. I wouldnt really wanna travel much more than 2hrs

I look forward to your suggestions

The Florida Aquarium in Tampa is an excellent aquarium with extensive mangrove exhibits, I would suggest it as the best new-to-you facility within your range.

Check out my website www.seefloridazoos.com to get some information on many of the facilities. Central Florida Zoo is a small zoo just outside of Orlando. Other self proclamined "roadside attractions" are near Orlando as well - Gatorland, Jungle Adventures are a couple that come to mind. As far as Jacksonville goes, outside of Miami Metrozoo, Lowry Park, and the big theme parks the Jacksonville Zoo has a lot to offer. You'll have fun no matter where you go.

I second the opinion of Florida Aquarium, definitely one of the best aquariums around (although I haven't been to that many). Central Florida Zoo is very substandard IMO. If you do go to Tampa and you like cats, take a tour of Big Cat Rescue (around 2 hours total I think).

If it is within range, Palm Beach Zoo is quite nice - it was actually better than I expected.

Thanks for the advice guys, I have decided on the Florida Aquarium. I cant wait now I fly out in just over 2 weeks :D
