The zoo opened up again today (24th April), with a few new arrivals now in the collection.
Imported from Australia, the only pure bred dingoes in America, they are a 5 month old pair.
The Javan gibbons from California and Belfast.
A male wattled crane
A group of Diana monkeys

Over the winter period there were also a few births including
A female reticulated giraffe
14 banded mongoose
3 ring tailed lemurs
Other zoo babies include an endangered Parma wallaby, endangered black-footed penguins, swamp monkey, spectacled langur, and dead leaf mantis insects.

A question for Rookeyper, why does the zoo close for the winter?

I'd assume the zoo is summer-only due to the temperature restrictions that many of the warm-weather animals face coupled with the loss of income the small zoo would suffer trying to stay open in Indianna's often snow-packed months.

Sorry--still recovering from opening madness! We have very few exhibit buildings and Indiana winters can be downright nasty. In order to display the variety of species that we want to present we need to only be open when it's warm enough for the animals to go outside. We open the next to the last Saturday in April and close the middle of October.
