Balearica pavoninaWould that not be black necked crane?
Balearica pavonina
Yes the keeper didn't go into much detail about them so there probably going into the African area as Fota is hoping to divide into Africa(hoofstock area), Asia and South America (lake and monkeys area)But that is an African bird?
I remember there being free ranging squirrel monkeys a few years ago so possibly an error. Im unsure about the black lemurs they weren't there on my last visit in October anyway.ZootierlisteHomepage
Zootierliste says Fota have black lemur and squirrel monkeys ? Additions to fill empty islands I wonder or just an error
I thought they had planned to move the tapirs up to the islands area to create a south american area?Visited today. Big news, lion cubs due soon! One of the females separated in her own. Also big construction work going on at the tapirs, the Pygmy goat is gone and a state of the art South American enclosure is being built with an aviary. The grey cheeked mangabys have moved and occupy the house that joins to the two islands beside the old lion tailed macaque island. The old lion tailed island is still occupied by the make and a juvenile outcast, a waste of such a large island. The colobus have moved to the Mangabys old house and there is no longer electric fencing between the meerkats. The colobus leave beind an empty island. Seen the cheetah cubs and the tiger cub.
