Inocencio, a young male Pygmy Hippo from Parque Zoológico Buin Zoo in Chile, is now on exhibit in the Tropical Forest.

The new, multi-million dollar Children's Zoo is actually cheap considering that construction will be done in Boston and many other children's zoos have cost far more in the past decade around the United States. The entire top portion of Franklin Park Zoo will remain extremely kid-friendly, while the bulk of the marquee animals are found in the southern portion of the establishment.

Not much is changing besides the filling in of the duck pond. Amur Leopard is gone. NARO's are added. Finally get the Blanding's Turtles and Northern Red-bellied turtles on-show. The eagle nest slide looks fun. I just hope they incorporate a way for disabled children to get to use it. They didn't do that for the silo slide in their farm area.

I asked a staff person while at the Zoo where the Tree Kangaroo went. They told me they went to Stone Zoo and Kiwi would be coming. They also said they are getting RRH up near Bongo.

Will that be a first for Franklin Park Zoo? Hopefully they are designing a good nocturnal exhibit for them where people can actually see them.

Yes, it will be. The Kiwi will go where the old Tree Kangaroo was. It is also where the Zoo has displayed Koala in the past. Can be darkened easily and is climate-controlled.

There's a sign on the former Wild Dog exhibit saying Coming Soon! Spotted Hyena. Kiwi still aren't on exhibit. They will not be seasonal like the Koalas.
