Franklin Park Zoo Franklin Park Zoo News 2014

There's a sign on the former Wild Dog exhibit saying Coming Soon! Spotted Hyena. Kiwi still aren't on exhibit. They will not be seasonal like the Koalas.

When did they get rid of their wild dogs? Do you know why they decided not to exhibit them any longer?

Maya, the ocelot kitten, made her public debut recently.
Beau, the male Masai Giraffe, is off-exhibit and is under observation for his lameness in his right leg. Meanwhile, the offspring of Beau and Jana, Henrietta, has recently moved to the Roger Williams Park Zoo as part of the SSP.

When will they be on display?

Still not on-show, yet. A keeper said they need to hyena-proof the exhibit some.

Newborn, female giraffe made her exhibit debut. She is on-exhibit if weather is 65°F or higher. Grevy's zebras will be on-show in cooler weather.

New, male Red Panda Cub made his exhibit debut today.

Are the hyenas replacements for the wild dogs or are they in a new exhibit?

Gulo gulo's posts seem to have indicated that they were replacements for the wild dogs.
Hope FPZ makes a press release about the new additions. Hyenas are too frequently overlooked in zoo collections IMO.

The largest, free-flight bird in the Tropical Forest, a Yellow-billed stork, has passed away.

The Zoo has also welcomed a new male Andean Condor recently.
