filling in the gapsI believe the plan is to put it behind the sheep paddock. It's supposed to include an area where guests can view into part of the veterinary hospital.

Today is interestingly the third and fourth birthdays of Auggie the grey kangaroo and Ptolemy the pygmy hippo, respectively.
On a side note, the zoo has just started advertising pygmy hippos more so than ever. I wonder why.
Yes, that was the joke.cant tell if you’re joking or not but they are advertising their Pygmy hippos more because of the online Moo Deng sensation. Moo Deng is a young Pygmy hippo whole lives at the Khao Khew zoo in Thailand.
This is a great location for it to be put. Ever since the camels left there that area has never seemed to have been used to the fullest.
I think that a great place to relocate the camp would be the path behind the tropical forest. If you look carefully behind the tropical forest along the path hidden behind some trees there is (or at least there was on my last visit) a stone gorilla statue. It’s a forested area and it loo like it was used for something a very long time ago. This would be a great location. That space has been utilized in the summer for ZooCamp the last several years. I'm interested to see where they relocate camp to if they stick with the plan to construct the new hospital there. While there is a lot of "unused" space on the campus, many of those spaces do host short-term/recurring programs or events, so removing them as an option will have an impact.
Do any of you know what the "new african mammal" species is that's near the penguins in the images?I think that a great place to relocate the camp would be the path behind the tropical forest. I was wondering. In this link from the Boston Government it says that they plan to build a gift shop a few images down from the start. If they do build a gift shop, I’m guessing that they will probably close down the current gift shop (the one next to the playground). If they close down the current gift shop what would they do with this space? I personally hope that they use the current gift shops space along with the current Outback adventures and make an even bigger and better one. Maybe one that’s even a walkthrough!
It's not going to be a new species as far as we know, it's just a new exhibit area.Do any of you know what the "new african mammal" species is that's near the penguins in the images?
Yes, there has already been some work on this area. It's supposed to be a nature play space, and there are plans to enhance it. However, it's a fully public space, so moving camp there wouldn't be a good solution (harder to keep the camp activities separate, possibility of non-camp visitors getting mixed in, removes it as a space the public can use...).I think that a great place to relocate the camp would be the path behind the tropical forest. Yes, the current gift shop will be closed when the new one opens. There have been talks about how to repurpose the building but I don't think there's a final decision yet. Fairly certain they will keep the building rather than tear it down. I don't think they would want an exhibit to abut the playground area.I was wondering. The entrance is going to be part of the construction happening for the african experience expansion.Zoo New England
Accoriding to webpage the costs have risen to $19 million from $16 million. $3 million is quite the jump. Maybe the entrance is happening
Small exhibit inside the entrance on the drawing? Hope it’s not merkats.Do any of you know what the "new african mammal" species is that's near the penguins in the images?
It might be meerkats as that space is awfully smallSmall exhibit inside the entrance on the drawing? Hope it’s not merkats.

They do have them as animals they show visitors. I don’t think they live near penguins in the wild. I don’t think the zoo plays neighborly with displays. Could go another direction.I hope that it will be fennec foxes if the exhibit is big enough.
