Franklin Zoo has one elderly lioness called Ruby, born in 1992. The zoo hopes to bring in some younger lions soon. Does anyone know where these are coming from?

I would guess Orana is planning to keep their five lion cubs since they have neutered their three males and the females are useful for future breeding.

I have heard a suggestion that Auckland Zoo may provide them with cubs. This would make more sense, especially since their males are wild bred. They currently have two breeding females, Kura (12 years) and Amira (9 years).

I'm not saying your wrong but I think that it is more likely that the lion cubs will come from Paradise Valley Springs in Rotorua. They have recently produced a cub named Ella which was born shortly after their last cub in February. I think that they bred from Luca again because there was a demand for cubs.

Also, Orana Park are still a possibility because Zulu has yet to breed with Pricilla and her daughters Leah and Meeka, this will probably happen soon and I doubt Orana could accomadate all those lions!

Franklyn have yet to get any more lions, but they have been looking as far away as queensland.
they were at one stage an option for some of the Zion lions when that place was seeming it would be closed.
