A little late to post, but this article gives a little insight into what's to come at the FCZ. Like they stated above, a new warthog exhibit, an expanded tiger exhibit to breed Malayan tigers, a new sloth bear exhibit, and hopefully in 3 years, the new African river exhibit with underwater viewing for both hippos and crocodiles. Projects in the future also includes redoing the South American area, and adding a penguin exhibit.

Does anyone know exactly how big the African elephant portion of the new African adventure exhibit is acre wise?

I am fairly certain it is three acres. I was there a month ago and ran into the zoo director (whom I know) and he gave us a quick tour of the area. I am pretty sure that is what he told us.

According to my overhead measurement, and if I were to include the moat, the elephant area is approximately 2.30 acres

Aha, I saw the pups when they were less than a week old and indeed, I thought I counted six... incredibly excited to see them grow up :)

I haven't been there in a couple of months, but from the look of it, yes. It's the same area as the old giraffe exhibit. It looks like the area that once housed the zebras.
