The current Museum of Science in Miami is being permanently closed this week as the long-gestating, brand-new Museum of Science is going to open in a different location in the summer of 2016. The $300 million project includes the Living Core Aquarium, a 500,000 gallon, three-story complex.

I didn't realize that this was an entirely new facility going up - thought it was a remodel. It looks like an exciting project. Miami can definitely use a high-quality aquarium as the Seaquarium seems like a tired relic from the 1950s.

The new museum is a universe of difference from the old one in Coconut Grove. The deep sea tank will be unique.
