With the improvements in most zoo's over the last 25 years in how the animals are looked after and the enclosures that they now live in.
The knoledge we've gained through the study of animals in the wild, the new names on the Red List and the earth's own warming up, the Poles melting, the interpretion that we have of zoo's and parks have changed
What do you think a modern zoo will have in the next 25 years as thier attractions.
I would love to see an artic enclosure where you actually walk through at original tempratures with seals, penguins and polar bears enjoying there real time enclosure. I know this is way out but imagine what could happen so what would you like to see at a zoo then in 25 years time

Perhaps by then, meerkats will be so endangered a breeding programme is created for them. Who knows.

Of course, polar bears and penguins live at totally different ends of the earth so it wouldn't be a particularly accurate exhibit (especially as one would likely get a taste for the other) but either way, I'd like to work there!

I can just imagine the children entering out of summer sunshine at one end and emerging at the other with their hands frozen solid to their helium balloons and their tongues permanently glued onto their rock-solid ice-creams. ;)

The polar bears and the penguins would be in completely seperate enclosures within the enclosure
and just a quick one if you go on the Vanhalam at Blackpool you do exactly that from very hot too extremely cold and yes it does takes your breathe away thats why there would be a public health notice as you go in
But what fun seeing peoples faces coming out into the sunlight again relising actually how cold it really is at both ends of the world

You realise that the average summer temperature at the South Pole is -25°C? People wouldn't come out of the exhibit at all! ;)

No what I'm trying to do here is ask what do you think will be the attractions in zoo's in 25 years time
I used mine as an example but I understand what you mean but the walking area would be cold but obviously not too cold so no one could walk through
