my adopted animal geoff the fossa has just left newquay zoo to go to wroclaw zoo, i am obviously concerned about his enclosure and was wondering if anyone had any information on his enclosure or his mates??
Your Newquay Zoo male will have a company of a young female from Duisburg Zoo. Both animals are of course already here and at the moment are kept in separate neighbouring cages, so can see each other through the mesh. Actually these cages were prepared for the monkeys (Cercopithecus ssp.) but I think are quite good for the fossas as well. They have the access to inerior small cages as well and since the weather in Wroclaw for the past few weeks was not good they were rarely seen outside. The pair of fossas were imported to Wroclaw because we were thinking that Malgasy House will be ready this Spring. The trouble is that it is not a new construction being built from the beginning. Simply we decided to rebuild old Small Mammal House and unfortunately there are unexpected construction problems. Possibly new Maglasy (Madagascar) House will be ready by late Autumn. Hope this helps.
Unfortunately the forecast for the weekend are not good. Strong winds and snow. But surely I will visit the zoo and I will see if there will be any chance to get a good shot of fossas.
