When the SHARKS!: Predators of the Deep exhibit opens, will Georgia Aquarium be the first and only aquarium in the United States to display tiger sharks?

Sand Tiger Shark is Carcharias taurus
Tiger Shark is Galeocerdo cuvier

The name makes it confusing but it's more accurate to refer to the former as 'sand shark' for short than 'Tiger Shark', as the latter is the only actual Tiger Shark.

The Sand Tiger Shark is the most commonly kept requiem shark in aquaria, whereas the Tiger Shark is one of the rarest.

Oh gotcha

@ThylacineAlive Are tiger sharks the most difficult of all the shark species that are hard to take care for even when they're in captivity?

The most difficult? Definitely not, however I do think they're more aggressive than most other sharks and therefore are tricky to mix with other species. It's the same reason you don't see many Bull Sharks around.

As Thylo said, they're one of the harder, but definitely not the most difficult. Great Whites, for one. Deep sea species like Goblin sharks. Greenland sharks. Megamouths and basking...

Has anyone ever tried to exhibit a Greenland shark?
