Both lobsters and starfish can be mixed with other species, however in most cases it is rather risky business. Both groups are known for displaying rather predatory behavior, particularly in captive settings where tankmates cannot get away so easy. I have seen both groups mixed personally, but have also heard plenty of stories of large starfish and lobsters decimating tanks. Tends to be a real hit and miss scenario depending on what they're mixed with and how big the tank is.
