Cyphotilapia frontosa is one of the many cichlid species which are native to Lake Tanganyika. They are adapted to living in hard, alklaine water. Consequently they will not thrive in soft, acid water, which is suitable for South American and West African species. They can be kept with Malawi cichlids which require similar water conditions, but they make a more interesting exhibit if they are kept with a variety of other medium or large cichlids and catfishes from Lake Tanaganyika.Fish
